the Inform installation data directory, i.e., default path
       c:\Program Files\Veeder-Root\Inform\Data\inform.mdb. (It is recommended
that a backup copy of the existing database be made before doing an
       Inform software upgrade.)

   b) Remove the current version of Inform. You can do this by running
Add/Remove programs located in the control panel.

   c) Install Inform. Place the Inform CD into your computer.
The setup program will be launched automatically.

   d) Optionally, convert your existing data to the new Inform database

6. USER'S GUIDE

    a) Adding Sites:

Set the console type. Select the Properties button and on the
tab labeled "General" select from the list of available types of
tank gauges. For any gauge other than Veeder-Root, the user must
select metric or US units. (Supported ATG types include: TLS,450,
TLS-3XX family, TLS-2, TLS-250/VR Emulation, Prolink, ST Series,
    RLM Series,and Incon.

On the "Communications" tab, select the appropriate method of
communication, either Serial, Modem, or TCP/IP, and enter the
appropriate communications settings. Set the modem initialization
string in the textbox provided only if a different string is required
than the default string defined on the main Inform window.

    b) Connect to New sites:

Connect to each new site to verify that the communication works well.
Take just a few more moments to collect all of the data into the Inform
database about that site. After the tank graphics appear, click on the
    Collect Data button.

    c) Automatic Data Collection:

After the initial connection and a manual data collection has been
performed, automatic data collections can be enabled. The Collection
Types can be programmed from any site. The same list of collection
types appear in the Properties of each site. However, not all data
types are available for every type of console. Each site can use any
one of the Collection Types defined.

If the sites are very different from each other, then organize different
Collection Types to collect only the data that is available for each
site. For example, if a site does not have Line Leak Detection, then
use a Collection Type that does not collect Line Leak; for an ST-Series
site, use a Collection Type that does not collect Adjusted Delivery data.

The data type "Compliance" will collect Sensor, Tank Test and Line Leak
Test data from the site. While this is a convenience, it may be appropriate
to collect only the data that you want, so these data types are provided
separately. The types of data available depend on the type of console, e.g,
sensor and link leak test information are very limited or unavailable for
Prolink, ST, RLM and Incon consoles.

    d) Inbound Data Collections

In order to use Inform's E-mail features, inbound data collections must
be enabled. Select the Settings button, then the Inbound/Manual Data
Collection popup menu. Select the appropriate connection method, Modem,
TCP/IP, or both. This release supports inbound data connections for TLS
    consoles only.

For SMART Connect installations: Inbound data collection can be enabled for
SMART Connect sites, however, e-mail is generated for ATG alarms only.
Please refer to the section titled RAS Setup Instructions to enable the
    modem for dial-in.

    e) Configure E-mail

The following steps must be completed in order to use Inform's E-mail
features. E-mail setup can be accessed by selecting the Settings button
and then selecting E-mail from the popup menu. From the E-mail Alarm Site
Overview window, perform the following steps: (See the on-line help for
detailed instructions on configuring Inform for E-mail.)

       1. Set up the E-mail Send Options.

Select the Send Options button. The IP address and port number for
your E-mail server must be entered on the Send Options form.
Select the Test Server button to verify that the settings are correct.
(See your network administrator if the Test Server function fails, as
it may indicate that the correct values were not entered or your E-mail
       server cannot be reached.)
For the secured e-mail server, you must enter the e-mail account and
       password to be used.

       2. Set up the E-mail Address Book.

Select the Address Book button. Enter the E-mail addresses and contact
names of the individuals who should receive e-mail notification of alarm
       conditions.

       3. Set up your E-mail Groups

Individual E-mail addresses must be assigned to an E-mail group. Select
the E-mail Groups button and use this form to create E-mail groups and
       add contacts to them.

       4. Set up your Alarm Groups

Select the alarms that Inform should provide E-mail notification on by
selecting the Alarm Groups button. The default alarm groups may be used,
as shown on the Alarm Groups window, or alarms may be added or removed
       as desired.

       5. Assign Alarm and E-mail Groups to your sites

By selecting the Assignments button, perform the final step for proper
E-mail configuration by assigning alarm groups and E-mail groups to your
       sites.

7. IMPORTANT NOTES

--- During manual connections or polling, a program will be displayed on the
Task Bar, titled PathwayServerEx. This program should not be closed, as
doing so will terminate an active polling session or manual connection.
The PathwayServerEx will be closed automatically after polling or manual
connections are closed. If any PathwayServerEX programs remain on the
Task Bar several minutes after closing all Inform connections and
programs, you should close it via the Task Manager.

--- When Inform is running, a program will be displayed on the Task Bar,
titled Inform Email Processor which sends e-mails if you have set up
Inform to do so. This program should not be closed.

--- After the Inform installation is complete, the old database must be
       converted.
Do this from the Inform dropdown list under Start-programs-Inform.
Once this is done, QuickDBchange.exe must be run from
       C:\program files\veeder-root\inform\

Documentation of new features have not been made to Online Help Spanish and
Portuguese versions. If documentation on new features is required, please
refer to the English online help files (INFORM.HLP and INFORM.CNT) located
   on the installation CD.

8. Issues and limitations for Inform v4.2

   - When converting old databases from a different PC, you may be prompted
for a new Modem Name to match the COM port number from the old PC. If
your modem doesn't use the same COM port number you will not be able to
select it. Select None and then, after the conversion completes, for
each site bring up the Properties screen and verify the Modem Name and
     click Save.

   - When converting old databases on Chinese Win2000/NT/XP platforms, you
may see an empty message box. If so, you will need to select the
modem for each of your sites (see previous item for procedure).

   - on-line help for Russian version is available in English only.

9. Issues and limitations for Extended Gauges (Prolink, ST, RLM, Incon, VR
   emulations):

   - Connecting to some extended gauges with a non-standard PC date format
will not work properly. Use of the default regional date format on your
     PC is recommended.

   - Connecting to some extended gauges or VR-emulation gauges may require
specialized modem initialization strings, which should be entered on
the site's Properties -> Communications screen for the site. For example,
when connecting to ST consoles, it is recommended to lock the baud rate
to 1200 BPS; many modems use the AT command S37=5 to do this.

   - ST consoles: A limited number of history entries can be retrieved
during each poll or manual collect. This limit (99 entries) is normally
sufficient to keep Inform up to date, but for new sites Inform may need
to collect several times to bring its database up to date and synchronize
     it with the ST.

   - ST consoles: Adjusted Delivery data is not supported. You should not
use a polling Collection Type that includes Adjusted Delivery.

   - Some consoles provide limited information for the data types you are
collecting. When they don't provide all the data fields for various
Inform Reports (e.g. Water Volume in the Inventory report), the report
field is left 0 or -1. Some do not distinguish alarm priorities, or
indicate when cleared, and alarms may remain "Current".
